Craps is not as confusing as it appears. It actually is an easy game to learn. An understanding of the basics of the game and how to make a pass line bet will get you started on your way. You don't have to be concerned with any other of the craps bets when you begin the game.
There are about 40 different bets that can be made on a craps layout but most of them like the proposition and Hardaway bets have terrible odds that you should avoid. To get started playing craps all you need to understand is the basic pass line bet.
Pass line bet- A simple pass line bet works like this: you place your bet on the pass line before a new shooter begins his roll. This is known as the come out roll. If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 you win, if the shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12 you lose. If the shooter rolls any other number, that number now becomes what is called the point. The shooter must roll that number again before a seven is rolled. If that happens, you win even money for your pass line bet. If a seven is rolled before the point number is rolled, you lose. Its that simple!
The odds bet- once the shooter has established a point the player can make an additional bet behind the pass line bet. This is known as the "odds bet" It is the only bet in the casino that doesn't have a house edge, as it is paid off with true odds. Most casinos offer double odds, which means you can make a wager twice the size of the pass line bet. For example: if you bet $10 on the pass line you are allowed to make an odds bet of $20 once a point has been established.
A pass line bet is the easiest way to get you started in the most exciting game in the casino.
Now frequently a shooter may hold the dice for long periods of time without ever hitting the established point or rolling the seven. When this happens the game can get boring if the only bet you have is your pass line and odds bet. Now its time to expand your betting prowess. This is where the " place bet" comes into play. The place bets are the numbers closest to the dealers. These numbers are the 4-5-6-8-9-10. On a place bet your are betting again that whatever numbers you have chosen to wager on will be rolled before the seven.
Each time the shooter rolls the dice and the number or numbers you place a bet on comes up you get paid.
Please remember that Tumbling Dice's dealer staff will happily help you through the process.
We also promote Caribbean Stud, Red Dog, Let it Ride, Baccarat, and Slot Machines upon request.
